| Sculpture Commission |
The largest and most complicated piece of sculpture made by Kate has recently been installed in a private garden near Frome. Made up from ten separate pieces of Portland stone which interlock, fixing the sculpture was a nail biting few days. Kate had a great team helping her and all went pretty much to plan thanks to their skill and care. |

| Cruise ship commission |
| At the beginning of the year, Kate was commissioned to make 4 sculptures based on a nautical theme for a Saga Cruise Ship. There was and incredibly short deadline for these stone sculptures which meant working all hours and all weathers for the first 2 months of the year . All went well, deadline met and a thrilled client - PHEW! |

| The Stone Carving Studio |
As soon as the courier picked up the sculpture for the cruise ships, Kate set to work preparing and renovating 2 adjoining farm buildings in sub zero temperatures into a studio/workshop space suitable for teaching stone carving and sculpture classes and courses. Once again, it was a tight deadline, but The Stone Carving Studio opened for business in March. All courses filled up rapidly and names went on a waiting list for subsequent terms. The studio provides workshop space for up to 8 students at a time and an adjoining cozy tea room and small library of sculpture reference books and related material. |

| The Restaurant at the Grange |
| Jane Averill, owner of the Cookery School at the Grange and recently opened Restaurant at the Grange in Whatley, Somerset, has always been a great fan of Kate's work. Several pieces are currently displayed in the beautiful light, airy and contemporary restaurant and plans are being made to develop a series of sculptures to place in the gardens. | Workshop & Studio Expansion |
| Having had numerous enquiries about running stone carving classes, and following the great success of the mobile studio, I have just taken on the workshop next door to expand into running courses starting next spring. This winter's project is to renovate and equip the studio and transform it into a cosy, welcoming space able to accommodate 8 students. |

| July 2009 - Cruise Commission |
| |
|
| |
| Kate has recently completed 10 sculptures in Portland Stone for installation on a Pullmantur cruise liner. Based on wave forms, the success of these pieces has prompted the client to commission 5 further sculptures on the same theme for completion by December 2009. |

|
| July 2009 - 3.5 Metre Private Commission |
| |
| Kate is currently working on her largest private commission to date, a 3.5 metre high sculpture created in Portland Stone. This geometric structure consists of three interlocking vertical elements and explores the idea of movement within stone and the playful concept of suspended, floating forms. The design is technically challenging, requiring hugely specialised preparation work before the carving begins. |

Further updates will be posted over the next 3 months as the sculpture takes shape. |
